Power Distribution Project Engineer KM621104711
We have an immediate opportunity for a Power Distribution Project Engineer in the Orange County area. This individual will serve as technical lead in the area of high-voltage electrical power distribution design.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Overhead and underground high-voltage electrical power distribution line design, preparation of cost estimates, specifications, staking sheets, develop construction units, written reports and to perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
- Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures; plan, organize and supervise small to medium staff of professionals and technicians.
- Lead QA/QC process on design projects as well as mentor junior engineers.
- Depending on experience, the Project Engineer may function as a Project Manager on mid-size projects but project management is not sole focus of position.
- Responsible for supporting the development of new and existing Power Delivery clients in the United States.
- Bachelors in Engineering required. (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering degree preferred.)
- 5+ years of experience in high-voltage electrical power distribution planning, distribution modeling, distribution coordination, distribution line design is required.
- Experience using PLS-CADD and other design software preferred
- Experience performing structural analysis, plan and profile preparation, line optimization, preparing specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents required for overhead and underground line projects.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or an E.I.T with commitment to obtain P.E. License required.
- 5+ years of experience performing aspects associated with overhead and underground high-voltage electrical distribution system analysis and design, distribution field staking, joint-use field review and design, and knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) is desired.
- Experience providing technical leadership.
- Strong client skills are required.
- Some travel may be required.

We have an immediate position for an Electrical/Substation Engineer in the Orange County area. The primary duties of this position is to lead a team which includes responsibility for knowledge and execution of the technical aspects and deliverables of projects assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Responsible for the preparation of cost estimates and written reports
- Ability to mentor and assign tasks and provides guidance to junior team members
- Work with Senior Engineers and the Business Class Leader to identify and develop specific technical expertise and will attend training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline
- May also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events
- Responsible for quality control reviews of projects from other teams on an as needed basis
- Ability to work independently and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise efforts of less-experienced EIT's and/or Designers
- Work independently on tasks and assist on larger, more complex projects
- Some travel may be required
Education and Required Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering Degree
- P.E. desired but no required
- 10 years of experience in electrical power system analysis, electrical system planning, protective device application and settings required
- Previous experience as an Engineer working at a Utility Company
- Experience with power system analysis software: ETAP, Cape, Aspen, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and electrical design software
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
