The Solstice Canyon Trail is a popular, well-maintained route with some spur-trail opportunities for more adventurous travelers. Some of the highlights include the oldest still-standing stone building in Malibu, a small waterfall and creek, and several ruins - including the ruins of a moderate mansion.
Date: Sunday, July 29th, 2018
Time: 8:00 AM at trailhead
Supplies suggested: water, sunblock, hat, snacks, hiking stick/poles etc.
If you are interested please RSVP by Thursday, July 26th.
LA Department of Transportation ATSAC Tour - Friday, August 24, 2018
We are looking into getting a tour of Los Angeles Department of Transportation's (LADOT) Automated Traffic Surveillance and Control (ATSAC) Tour. Our very own board member, Joan Hsu, works at LADOT along with many other UCI alumni. We will get an in depth look at how they manage about 4,600 signalized intersections and keep LA safe. This great opportunity will give a chance to get more in depth knowledge on the software, technology, and logic behind all the action. Whether you're a civil engineer, electrical engineer, computer engineer, or electrical engineer, this opportunity will give you a ton of insight and great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the system we will be seeing! For more information about ATSAC, check out there website at http://trafficinfo.lacity.org/about-atsac.php.
